Govt to launch campaign to enlighten people on its welfare schemes: Bommai

Bengaluru, Feb 10: With the countdown for the assembly polls virtually started, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the State Government has decided to launch an intensive campaign in all districts to educate the people, especially the beneficiaries on various welfare schemes implemented.

Speaking to media persons before the commencement of the State Budget session of the legislature in Vidhana Soudha on Friday, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought in transparency in the administration. The introduction of the direct benefit transfer (DBT) facility in distributing the benefits to the bank accounts of beneficiaries has eliminated the havoc of middlemen.

The government has directed all district level officers to ensure that the benefit amounts of all central and state programmes must be made only through DBT, he said pointing out that Stree Shakti, Swamy Vivekananda Yuva Shakti, Amrut scheme etc need to be popularized and steps for identification of beneficiaries must be taken up, he said.

Bommai said the government has planned to organise conventions in each district to disseminate information about its welfare schemes and necessary orders will be issued soon.

The Chief Minister said Revenue Minister R Ashok has been relieved of the responsibility of in charge of Mandya district as he himself had requested that he is busy with Davangere district on distribution of hakku patra distribution.

The chairman of the 2nd Administrative Reforms Commission T M Vijaya Bhaskar submitted the report on the BBMP administrative reforms to the Chief Minister. Ministers C C Patil and Dr K Sudhakar as well as BBMP Administrator Rakesh Singh and Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Manjunath Prasad and others were present.

In the morning, the Chief Minister offered floral tributes to the statue and photo former Chief Minister Kengal Hanumanthaiah on his 115th birth anniversary.

A book on the life Kengal Hanumanthaiah will be released this year, he said and mentioned that he had taken an active role in the Kannada Ekikaran movement.
A statue of Hanumanthaiah is getting ready in Ramanagar and will be unveiled soon. The BBMP has a proposal for the installation of this statue at a prominent place on Bengaluru-Mysuru Road, and the work will start after getting formal approval. The memorial of Hanumanthaiah in Kengal will be developed as 'Smriti Garden' for which the necessary grants will be released.

Bommai said the former Chief Minister was at the forefront of uniting all the Kannada-speaking people and also for the establishment of the State of Karnataka. Hanumanthaiah played an important role in the initial days of Karnataka politics and gave a vision document for the overall development of the state and also laid a strong foundation stone for the same. He was responsible for the beautiful Vidhana Soudha to come up in the State capital, he said.

    Very Strange. People need to be enlightened on its welfare schemes????…Is the govt deaf and blind. People from all corners and life are protesting and demanding for better life since 5 years but in return they are ignored, beaten and demanded 40% from all schemes.

    People are already aware of BJP 40perc scheme's and are already fed up to the core. What comes in books and talks can not mask the reality. Only people who are direct beneficiaries of corruption would disagee to this.
