Mangaluru: Hotel staffer-cum-food delivery boy dies in accident as car hits 2-wheeler

Mangaluru, Feb 10: A 41-year-old employee of a hotel and a food delivery boy died after a car rammed into his two-wheeler in Kallkatta of Manjanady under Konaje police station limits.

The deceased is identified as Anil Kumar, a native of Kozhikhode, residing in a rented house in Santhoshnagar at Kuthar in city.

It is said that he was also working as a delivery boy for Zomato. In the evening he used to work for Jucie Magic Hotel in Deralakatte.

At 11 pm on Thursday, February 9, while Anil was out on his two-wheeler from Kallakatta to deliver food to a customer, a car bearing Kerala state registration number hit his two-wheeler. The car was driven by Aboobakar Siddique and as a result of the collision, Anil was thrown to the nearby compound of a house resulting in a severe head injury.

Immediately, the injured Anil was rushed to a private hospital in Deralakatte. After giving him first aid treatment Anil was rushed to another private hospital by Juice Magic Hotel owner Shajid G M and Hasan. But, Anil succumbed to his injury at around 1.45 am without responding to the treatment.

It is said that Anil had called his customer who had ordered food from Jucie Magic after reaching Kallakkatte and informed them to collect the parcel. But, unfortunately he had met with an accident. Customers called up Anil but they did not get any response from him and so they contacted the hotel owner to inform him about what had happened.

The hotel owner and other employees of Juice Magic, Ice-Magic and Burger point paid their last respects to the departed soul by closing their business establishments. It is said that Anil's mother had died a few months back.

As Anil was unmarried and alone, hotel owner Sajid had found a girl for him to get him married. So, Anil had visited some temples in Kozhikode on February 8 and yesterday on February 9, in the evening he had rejoined work.

Hotel owner and youths working for Zomato arranged for an ambulance service to ferry his mortal remains to his native.

A case has been registered by the Mangaluru South traffic police station.
