Mangaluru, Feb 10: There was widespread anguish here against a teacher of a government school at Ullal who sent photographs of students who did not do their homework to the parents in a whatsapp group.

The photographs of the third standard students of Deralakatte Government Junior Primary School have been sent by the teacher to the whatsapp group of the parents. The photographs of children who did not answer three Kannada questions and those who did not do their maths homework besides those who did not write Kannada copywriting, were posted in the group. Their omissions were also written below their photographs.

The teacher has been sending homework assignments to the students for the day after 9 pm every night. There were a few lessons among them which required learning through watching the Youtube channel. That included learning projects such as the process of distillation of water from watching the Youtube channel besides other regular school homework.

On the next day, the teacher  became aggressive if the mobile phone handsets of the parents did not work for some reason or if the children do not do their homework. She made the children line up like thieves and posted their photos in the Whatsapp group.

The parents have sought to know who is responsible for the mental agony that the young children are made to suffer.

It's High time that we have frequent quality inspection and etiquette/behavioural training given to the school and college teachers. I mean such personalities who don't know the basic grounds often lead to sad and depressing child hood for alot of kids out there.. We send kids to learn and not to be traumatized because of the teacher.

Not only this complaint , as a parent , I know so many parents are complaining everyday , of different schools of teachers hitting badly to students every single day but are afraid to complaint, because then the teachers and school commuter start taking grudge on student. , teachers should understand , students are coming school to learn , and that place is not hostel it's a school , teachers are being paid because we parents send ours kids there to learn , but if situation remains same , teachers if they do whatever they want to do , I mean by posting complaints on social media , hitting hard to small students with scales, punishing them for every small mistakes, then this teachers be careful we are not going to happen this things the way you are going we parents know how to correct it. So be careful. This is the suggestion to all teachers and to all the HMs of the schools , where all such things are happening.

As a mother of two I always allowed my kids to live their childhood without any pressure of studies.. neither with extra curricular activities of my choice.. They participated only in what they are interested, but at the same time always told them the importance of education.. And I wasn't surprised when they got excellent grades in 10th &12th. every time above 95% without any tuitions ..off course I always remained their first teacher with whome they were always comfortable .. Dear parents and teachers the grades our children getting are far better than what we used to get.. So please be proud of them Dear teachers don't treat your students as pressure cookers 😂😜. Don't torture them . Covid is over... No more online assignments please... Allow them to sleep peacefully 🙏

Those days teachers were free from EMIs now a days teachers have lot of EMIs , insurance premiums, all these stress they pass it on children. Now a days schools just meant for issuing certificates. Without tuitions and parental support children cannot pass out. Then what is the schools ? Open schooling is best option now.

Parents must consider home-schooling until their children reach the age of 15. There is no gain in sending the children to school. It is a waste of time. Some of the best 'educated' people of the past, including great scientists, were all home-schooled.

Teaching is a very challenging job. It often gets very frustrating when students don't listen to us or don't do things which we consider very easy. Having patience is very important.

Is this part of NEP curriculum using social media forum for all purposes. Stupid teacher and stupid curriculum of uneducated. Sending homework by mobile phone to tiny children after 9.00 PM is ridiculous.

Very sensitive children these days! Their parents also want to be treated with kid gloves! In our childhood the teacher's cane and the sternest of looks was enough for us to study, do homework etc etc. Any complaints by the teacher and we would have had to face the music at home too!Teachers take was final and what super teachers we had! Jaane Kahaan Gaye woh din!! Now nobody should scold, punish children... but children should score 100 in all subjects.. How?? 🤔🤔

Certainly discipline builds character. However, in this case it should be noted that the teacher was consistently assigning homework via Whatsapp after 9 at night. By then kids are too exhausted or in some cases even gone to bed (at least when we were young growing up in Mangalore) With improved teacher training techniques, teachers must resort to disciplinary methods, other than shaming. Shaming is an ineffective disciplinary tool.
