Udupi, Feb 14: The long-awaited development of the Ambagilu–Manipal road in Mooduperampalli ward under the Udupi City Municipal Council limits was formally inaugurated on Friday, February 13, and has now been opened for vehicular movement, bringing much-needed relief to commuters and residents.
The newly concretised Perampalli road was inaugurated by Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, who dedicated the upgraded stretch to the public. With the completion of the project, commuters and local residents can now travel on the fully developed road without inconvenience.

The portion of the road near Sai Radha Green Valley had remained in a severely deteriorated condition for several years. Potholes, uneven surfaces, and poor drainage had made commuting difficult and risky for motorists, pedestrians, and schoolchildren. Local residents had repeatedly raised concerns over the hazardous condition of the road and demanded immediate action from the authorities.
Daijiworld.com had published a series of reports highlighting the plight of road users and the urgent need for redevelopment. Following these reports and continued public pressure, the authorities initiated steps to address the issue. The project was taken up through the Public Works Department (PWD), and an amount of Rs 59 lac was allocated for the improvement works.
Inaugurating the road, MLA Yashpal Suvarna said, “As a representative of the people, it is my responsibility to address their problems. Thousands of commuters use this road every day. Despite constraints in government funding, we utilised PWD funds to complete the work. Although funds were sanctioned only for a two-lane road, provisions have been kept in mind to facilitate a four-lane expansion in the future. I appeal to the state government to restrict politics to election time and focus on solving public issues and ensuring welfare. I remain committed to working for the people round the clock.”
Fr Vishal Lobo, parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Perampalli, expressed gratitude to the MLA for taking personal interest in ensuring the completion of the road project. He appreciated the efforts made to address the long-standing demand of the local community.
Prabhakar Poojary, former president of Udupi City Municipal Council, and other BJP leaders were present on the occasion.
