Mangaluru, Feb 12: Former MLA J R Lobo verbally attacked MLA of Mangaluru south constituency and said that his announcement of providing title deeds to 2000 people of Bengre is a blatant lie.

Speaking at a press conference, Lobo said, “I condemn such assurances. In the past five years, he did not move a stone and now is giving false assurances to the people of Bengre as the assembly elections are nearing. The funds that were allotted for the development of old port are spent on road and drainage. Can this be termed as the welfare of fishermen community," he said.

"I visited Bengre even before the elections of 2013 and the residents appealed to give them title deeds as they have been residing in that area for more than 50 years. In the 2013-18 period after I won and became MLA, I brought the same to the notice of the government and revenue department. Then Bengre was declared as a village. We received 2400 applications. After surveying through revenue department, we have given title deeds to 1500 people. RTC is provided to 100 residents. As elections were declared, I could not give title deeds to other applicants,” he added.
