Mangaluru, Feb 17: It is two weeks after a jewellery store employee was stabbed to death in broad daylight at a jewellery store in city. The city police are yet to nab the culprit.

The victim who succumbed to the stab injuries was Raghavendra Acharya (54), a resident of Attavar.

The police have been unsuccessful in tracing the accused even after two weeks of the murder taking place.

It may be recalled, the accused had stabbed the victim at around 3.40 pm on February 3. The incident was reported when the owner was returning to the store after lunch. The accused had stabbed Raghavendra and stole a 12-gram gold chain from store before fleeing from the spot.

According to sources, the accused had managed to escape, by hiring two auto-rickshaws in the city.

The police have obtained CCTV footage from other shops and establishments in the vicinity. The accused before executing the crime was reportedly wandering near the jewellery store. Though the police have started a probe, they are yet to nab the culprit.

The police have formed separate 7 teams to nab the accused in the case.

The police have released a photograph and CCTV footage of the accused in the crime. Tracing the accused is also a challenging task as the accused had covered his face with a mask.

Reportedly, crimes like bike theft and chain snatching are increasing in the city. On December 16, a bike theft was reported from Pumpwell junction. On December 23, a two-wheeler was stolen from Jeppinamogaru. Unfortunately, police have failed to trace the accused.

Thieves snatched a 14-gram gold chain from a woman at Boloor Mathadakani. Thieves are indulging in crimes, where there are no CCTV cameras.
