Mangaluru, Feb 28: As part of awareness sessions, and on behalf of CyberSapiens, Chirag Suvarna (security analyst) and Abdul Rameez (security analyst) conducted an awareness session on the topic 'Cyber Crime in relation to Drug trade' at St Aloysius College on February 25.
Information on about how the internet could be misused for drug trading and supply, were spoken about, which is connected to the Darknet. Guidelines on how the Darknet operates to facilitate illegal activities, along with a list of Darknet markets that have been operating , techniques and prevention methods to stay safe in cyber space were the focus of the awareness. Students were informed about the laws pertaining to the NDPS act of 1985 along with its various sections.
The department of counselling with its six counsellors, along with student volunteers conducted a week-long programme from February 6-11 to create awareness about mental health, specially focusing on substance abuse as its theme.
Under the name ‘Happy D.O.S.E. – Explore the New High’ (D.O.S.E.: Happy Chemicals- Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin Endorphins) the programme called upon students to engage in various activities and positive coping skills rather than indulging in negative or maladaptive coping methods such as substance abuse. The topic was also more focused into the Drug trafficking involved through the misuse of internet (Darknet), the prevention techniques to stay safe from drug consumption was the main agenda of the session.
