London, Jun 19: Syrian President Bashar Assad's brother Maher may get sacked soon, sources said on Saturday.
An emmisary representing Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Syria with a 'warning message' to Assad, demanding Maher's sacking.
Maher is considered the man behind the brutal violence against Syrian protestors in which more than a 1000 have lost their lives. Reports stated that Ankara was ready to take charge of Maher or find him a refuge elsewhere.
However, President Assad is still expected to rely on his brother to suppress any opposition to his regime.
Turkey is also said to have assured Syria that Maher would not be prosecuted in case he is removed from his post.
Arab League secretary General Amr Moussa has expressed concerns over the Syrian situation, reports stated.
