Government was Co-operative: Team Hazare on Lokpal Meet

New Delhi, Jun 20: Going by the statements issued by the government and Team Hazare, it seems like the 8th meeting of the Lokpal committee ended fruitfully, without too many attacks and counter-attacks.

Kapil Sibal appeared cool and calm while speaking to reporters, and said today's meeting was a step forward for the drafting of a better Lokpal bill.

On the other hand, Prashant Bushan, member of Team Hazare and Lokpal committee said that the government representatives were cordial, and though there were arguments, the meeting went on very well, adding that a positive result was expected soon.

It is learnt that about 90% of the issues were sorted out, while the rest, though very important, would be sorted out in the coming days through dialogues. The pending issues are expected to be resolved by the next and last meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

It is also learnt that there was no consensus on important issues like bringing the PM and the judiciary under the ambit of Lokpal, merging the Central Bureau of Investigation, Central Vigilance Commission in the Lokpal, including lower bureaucracy, conduct of MPs inside the Parliament and the prosecution powers for the Lokpal.

Kapil Sibal said that the draft of the Lokpal bill will get a final shape after meetings with all political parties.
