Puttur: Bundle of Rs 10 lac robbed from man in broad daylight

Puttur, Mar 22: In a shocking incident that occurred on March 20 afternoon at Rifayinagara on Pedamale-Saralikatte Road of Ilanthila village of Beltangady taluk, a stranger robbed bundle of Rs 10 lac currency notes that a man was holding in his hand.

Mohammed K, resident of Karyapadi of Ilanthila village, is the person who was robbed of the money by the stranger. He had kept the money to buy gold ornaments for his daughter’s marriage. As Mohammed was keeping the bundle of currency notes below the seat of his two wheeler, a stranger appeared suddenly and forcefully took away the money from him. Though Mohammed chased him for quite a distance, the robber managed to escape.

In his complaint to the police, Mohammed said that the robber was wearing pant and t-shirt. Mohammed informed the matter to his relatives and filed complaint at Uppinangady police station quite late.

Accroding to sources, police have taken into custody two people, residents of Rifayinagara and are interrogating.

    Predators are increasing and preys are getting scarce... Complacency in handling huge cash amounts will result in such losses... Always go with a company when you have huge cash on you and follow certain norms such as keeping cash in a backpack rather than holding in hand... Police may eventually find the guy but notes would have evaporated by then....
