Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Mar 23: The residents of Nodu lane on Bejai new road have put up a banner threatening to boycott upcoming elections.

The residents are protesting demanding the repair of road to curb traffic congestion. They are also demanding speedy work of road towards Ramakrishna Bajana Mandira.

Speaking to Daijiworld, a resident of Nodu lane said, “We are seeing bad road here since a few months. Nodu lane consists of 150 houses. There are two roads connecting Nodu lane, one from new road and another from Ramakrishna Bajana Mandira. The concrete work of the new road was undertaken and also that of Bajana Mandira road. The construction of the new road connecting to Nodu lane is going on at snail’s pace which may take three months to complete. We are facing a lot of issues without proper roads connecting to our area.”

“The work of Bejai new road connecting to Nodu lane is progressing very slowly. Only one car can pass on the road here at a time. Another oncoming vehicle will lead to block and both the sides of the concrete road are very deep,” said a resident.

As this delay has happened because of the MLA's fund and his work, people are not aware of this and will not call him but will only follow up with the area corporator who they are in touch regularly. Mr. MLA, please involve the local corporators when you do any work in their area so that the work functions smoothly, your an MLA for the Mangalore constituency not only for a particular party and for some people. Thank You

Boycotting elections or even casting a NOTA vote is the most foolish thing to do in Indian politics. By giving up your right to vote, you are only helping the unscrupulous candidate to win. Instead, organize a well motivated group of voters and defeat the bad guy. The bad guy will only be happy if all those who are opposed to him don't vote.

We are just fooled take for instance S. L. Mathias it took 5 years to complete the road works and still footpath is not safe for pedestrians specially senior citizens and children. First it was snatching land from fellow residents in the name of road widening but not useful for people who have given land. Promised TDR still not given to residents whose land has been snatched. Benefitting school buses to ply on the road and vehicles parked on both sides of the roads making things worse.

Yes. The Nodu lane is in pathetic condition. its not few months but more than year. few months the laying of Gail gas pipeline has made the road to worst. The local corporator is doing the best by assigning 2 people to manage the traffic coming from each ends - this cannot be solution as lot of time is wasted waiting to clear the traffic.
