Bantwal, Apr 14: A 60-year-old man, Doombaiah Mulya, a resident of Bhandarybettu, died in a road accident when a KSRTC bus hit his scooter from behind in Jakribettu of Bantwal.

The incident took place on the Bantwal bypass road when Doombaiah was travelling from Jakribettu towards B C Road. The KSRTC bus was heading from Dharamasthala towards Mangaluru.

The impact of the collision caused Doombaiah to be thrown onto the road, resulting in severe injuries. Dinesh Dambedhar, secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha, arranged for Doombaiah to be taken to the hospital, but he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Reports suggest that Doombaiah was on his way to B C Road to purchase flowers. He worked as the manager of Kulala Community Hall.

Locals allege that the accident occurred due to the negligent driving of the bus driver, who fled the scene soon after the incident. Traffic police from Melkar visited the site.
