Mangaluru: Electricity meter explodes in factory – Rs 10 lac loss estimated

Mangaluru, Apr 17: Fire mishap occurred in a factory at the Baikampady industrial area due to high voltage, which resulted in assets worth Rs 10 lac getting destroyed.

Electricity meter of Madhuban Graphics exploded with a huge sound at around 8 pm on Sunday April 16 and a fire erupted on the meter board. The Mescom officials, who came to know about the incident, immediately cut off the electricity supply in the vicinity.

Workers of nearby industries rushed to the spot and threw sand on the fire and controlled it. Later, fire service personnel arrived and took control of the situation.

    It is not normal when a meter is installed normally to explode by itself.Someone must have played with it?to give connection by trying to connect elsewhere.?Thank God no one is injured or personal loss.
