Udupi: Police seize car, cigarettes worth Rs 4.79 lac illegally transported - Two held

Udupi, Apr 18: Padubidri police seized cigarettes being transported illegally without bills at the Hejamady checkpost on Monday, April 17.

The police officers who were on poll duty and Padubidri police officer Purushottama and his team inspected a car near the checkpost and seized cigarettes valued at Rs 4.79 lac.

The police also arrested two persons who hailed from Manjeshwar in this connection.

As many as 2,400 packs of cigarettes valued at Rs 3.96 lac and 30 banned e-cigarettes valued at Rs 83,970 were found hidden in the car and were seized by the police.

Padubidri police said that they also seized the car valued at Rs 8 lac and arrested two persons from Manjeshwar in this connection.
