Udupi, Apr 24: Krishnamurthy Acharya who had rebelled against the Congress party and had filed his nomination as an independent candidate, changed his mind after persuasion by D K Shivakumar.

Shivakumar is currently campaigning in Udupi.

D K Shivakumar also invited Krishnamurthy to the public stage.

Krishnamurthy Acharya hugged the official Congress party candidate Prasad Raj Kanchan.

The rebellion was culled due to intervention of D K Shivakumar.

Krishnamurthy Acharya said that he will not run a bulldozer on a home built by him and his colleagues. "I will not uproot the tree watered and nurtured by us. The reconciliation by D K Shivakumar and Rosy John was successful."

Krishnamurthy said that he spoke to AICC and KPCC leaders and has asked for the position of district Congress president.

“I am confident that D K Shivakumar will fulfil my request. I have united, organized and made the Congress party grow in Udupi during the last 19 years. I have indulged in social work for the last three decades. I will definitely be an MLA one day,” he said after withdrawing his nomination.
