Udupi, April 24: “The principles of Basavanna proclaiming equality are the principles of Congress party as well,” said KPCC president D K Shivakumar. He was addressing a massive rally seeking votes for party candidate Prasadraj Kanchan.
“Congress party coming to power is like all the people coming to power. Has the BJP’s double engine government brought about Ache din as promised? Have they doubled the income of farmers as promised by them? Are there any changes in the lives of fishermen? BJP has not provided even diesel to the fishermen. BJP’s candidate has not passed even SSLC. Do you want an educated candidate or an illiterate?,” he asked.
“Providing for a clean administration is our intention. We have announced a separate corporation for the growth of coastal tourism. We will be creating a tourism centre for jobs to youths considering the CRZ norms that are prevailing at Goa, Kerala and Maharashtra,” he said.
“Pramod Madhwaraj left Congress party but he is sitting down now. Our leaders are sitting up. Not even a single activist has gone behind him. The Congress's achievements are permanent,” the KPCC chief said.
“75 fishermen slipped and died at the Malpe port. BJP did nothing in this connection. D K Shivakumar arranged for an ambulance. It is not possible to buy a kilo of rice because of the price rise for which BJP is responsible,” said election candidate Prasadraj Kanchan.
Kaup Congress candidate Vinay Kumar Sorake said that after the arrival of D K Shivakumar, Congress will win all the five seats here. “BJP is selling the sugar factory to junk,” he said.
