Mangaluru, Apr 24: The residents of city are advised to brace for a temporary water supply suspension, as technical work is set to take place at Thumbe dam. The dam is the primary source of water for the city, and the maintenance work will require a complete suspension of water supply from 6 am on April 27 to 6 am on April 29.

According to a press release from the city corporation, the main pipe will undergo necessary repairs and the header will be changed during this period. The corporation has urged the residents to cooperate with the authorities during this time and to make necessary arrangements for storing water.

Water supply is expected to be restored to normal after the completion of the technical work, and the corporation has assured that every effort will be made to complete the maintenance work as quickly as possible.

The corporation has also advised the residents to use water judiciously once the supply is restored, in order to conserve the precious resource and ensure that there is sufficient supply for everyone.

    First time city corporation has informed well in advance about the technical repair works to be conducted at Thumbe dam. Otherwise, it was not so!! When we check the taps on alternative days, the days water supposed to come, taps stand still with a creeky noise. Calls wont be received or evenif they receive, harsh words were heard from the other end saying use the well water. If we say, wells are not there, construct sump....Now how to construct the sumps all of a sudden, pat comes the reply thats your problem and they disconnect the line. These answers i too experienced during covid time when we were deprived of the regular water more than 11/12 months. People who have wells, will never come forward and fight unitedly!! ..And the water will arrive after a week or so which should reach within 3/4 days....creeping just like a snail. But, main cities water will be provided like car street, bejai etc water will be going as usual. I heard car street, everything will be provided properly. Otherwise, people will create ruckus/bringing corporator to the spot etc. Some areas water supply twice a day. These problems we face even during rainy season when the water is plenty.... Suddenly, water stops by the excuse main pump drowned and it needed to lift up. In conclusion, this to facilitate the tankers who are linked with the municipality and corporators.....I agree with David Pais ji...

    Very true Cynthia; good that atleast a few people like you are raising their voice on the utter inefficiency and highhandedness of the administration, making the common man suffer and die! Despicable to note that majority of the people are sleeping, either by fear or "apne ko kya karne ka hai jab tak humko koi takleef nahi hai, public gayi tel lagane" attitude!! ROFL!!

    True..... I agree. Rudy sir, I cannot keep quiet when injutice is going on. I am born with that in built quality to speak as it is !! (may be its a bad quality or may be its good. Many dont like...forget about my neighbors/friends...in this comment section too, they dont extend support) I write here on ground realities and experiences i have gone through...Getting justice is secondary but bringing to the notice is preliminary step for me. So far, i only fought...others, as you said keep quiet.....Rarely some speak if thats beneficial to them....!!
