Kasargod, Apr 27: A hit-and-run case involving an unidentified vehicle caused a fatal accident on Wednesday on the National Highway near Uppala.
A couple travelling by bike was hit killing the wife on the spot, and the vehicle fled the scene.

The collision resulted in the death of Nalinakshi (65), a resident of Kottara Chowki, Mangaluru, and her husband, Prabhakar, was injured. The Manjeshwar police have launched an intensive investigation to identify the absconding vehicle.

The accident occurred when the couple was returning to Mangulore on their bike after attending a relative's wedding in Kasargod.

The speeding vehicle collided with their bike, throwing them off and causing serious injuries. Nalinakshi was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment but died due to her injuries. The police suspect that the vehicle involved may have been a pickup van.

To identify the vehicle and the driver, the police have reviewed CCTV footage from nearby houses and buildings.
