Mangaluru: SC should not recognise same-sex marriages - Vajradehi swamiji

Mangaluru, Apr 28: "The Supreme Court should not give legal recognition for same-sex marriage. It is against nature and Hindu culture and customs," said Gurpur Vajradehi Math Seer Sri Rajashekarananda Swami.

Addressing a press meet at Vishwashri (VHP) office here on Friday, April 28, he said, “The Supreme Court should not take decisions in urgency. If the court gives legal recognition for same sex marriage, it will hurt the sentiments of the people. Marriage occupies an important place in the Indian culture. Same sex marriage is against the Indian culture and customs. Our culture recognizes only the marriage between and woman. Opposite-sex marriages in Hindu culture are not only for sexual gratification or to seek sexual pleasure, but to promote family system and to produce good citizens for the future generation.

“If the Supreme Court gives legal recognition to same-sex marriage, they may appeal to the court to consider themselves as a minority and demand for reservation. This may lead to conflict in the society.

“If the Supreme Court provides legal recognition to same-sex marriages, Swamijis will hit the streets opposing this and will start a legal fight. Efforts are on to destroy the culture of India,” he said.

Sri Sri Om Sri Vidhyananda Saraswati Swamiji of Om Sri Math Mangaluru said, "The marriage of same-sex is a threat to the Hindu culture and customs. These are efforts to spoil the divine culture of this nation. In our culture, the marriage of same-sex is accepted nowhere. This is an attempt to destroy our culture as India is becoming Jagadguru.”

Shri Shri SaiIshwar Guruji of Eka Jathi Dharma Peeta Dwarakamai Math Shankarapura Udupi was also present.

    If one studies deeply, attraction to the same sex is a "mental aberration" and considered normal in nature with many animal species too exhibiting such an anamoly! BTW, in every person's sexual development phase, a time comes when he/she is attracted to the same gender, but majority grow out of it and become straight! Somebody, here, has mentioned that same gender relationships should not be 'promoted', which is a completely illogical & senseless statement as a straight oriented person can never be cajoled into such a relationship as his brain is not wired for it!

    Daniel, according to scriptures or according to General understanding, every human being is god's creation and created in god's image. . But, why god is creating human beings in such a way. They cant decide they want to be like this in the mother's womb. There's answer for this, this is god's plan/nature's mechanism to control population. Are you against god and nature ? Otherwise many years before this world would have been over populated and you would not have place to set foot on this earth. We should be grateful to these people whom you all are calling "unnatural", they contribute so much towards in controlling population. Tell me honestly, people are against for same sex marriage, but are ready to have s** with those and manipulate them....is this right ? How many straight coupkes are happy in their solemnized in front of their religious places straight marriages ?

    SC must allow same sex Union after considering various opinions from all concerned people. Majority people cannot stop the rights of minority and they born with such urge. Religion or religious minded people don't have rights to stop their fundamental rights to get married and they too born with God's blessings. Every human being must get their rights based on their biological status.

    Homosexuality, per se, is common in religious communes, where a number of same sex individuals reside, due to obvious reasons, the other sex interaction is strictly prohibited! Homosexuality has been recognised as a normal human behaviour by the American Psychiatric Society after a lot of research! Even in animals same sex attraction has been observed in many different species!! I think the honorable judges will give the judgement after doing a thorough research on the subject; and IMHO, any religious institution should not be passing their own inference!

    Praveen mangalore ,you are talking about against nature ,and same sex is against nature.But do you know even in nature ,sometimes something is going wrong?Swamiji tells that against Hindu religion Mind I am too against it.But sometimes something goes in nature,man is simply no power against it.Sure what do you think ,our human body should be perfect curves here and there,harmons ,and short or tall ,we cant adjust it previously.So when born so.have to accept it ,possible changes could be made ,but when harmons play a big role in them .Whether one wants ,Swamiji wants or not ,these people live their life further .Sure some feel awkward,but we have to accept them .Swamiji tells it is against Hindu culture.Does he think it is by the other culture otherway? Even in Russia they hide themselves and practice it in hidden doors.When they are found red handed,people will kill or Govt puts in jail.I say we should be tolerant with such people .Am not saying live your life and let live their life without disturbing others.Swamijis too are not Holy saints.Leaving worldly worths go to temple and many live quite different life.

    Why not Swamyji? All are not strainght swamyji. If a couple has ten children, all children look alike Swamyji? We have twenty fingers...all same. Likewise, even if body is one, parts differ from each other...eyes, ears, hands. Sameway, all are not straight. There are different categories. If supreme court decides, it decides on the opinion of psychologists/doctors/counselors and based on various factors national and international. Why it should affect Swamyji's since you are a swamy, leading pious life without family. May you statement wont break the hearts n minds of those who are born with different qualities....Lets respect everyone straight/same sex/transgeders and so on. They dont behave intentionally...they are born that way..

    Holy scriptures written by whom....? .men like you??? Daniel, how much of the scripture do you follow in your daily life? The scripture also prohibhits consumption of pork and shrimp among other things. Pun aitaar/function dukramaas nastana zataye? Your scripture says, fine then, don't date a man. Why should someone else not love a person because your book says so? Psychology/science was not advanced as of now.....!! Unless otherwise you find people in your friend circle/relatives/neighbors/in your own house, you wont feel the pain, whose interests differ in selecting their partners. Give their rights what they ought to! Dont snatch their freedom. Dont bring holy scriptures in this. Do you think only sodom and gomora had these people ? Not other places ? Come out of the scriptures and mingle with people dear. Understand them...

    Since live in relationships are legalized, it can give dignity for those minuscule percent of people who are genuinely inclined towards same sex and wish to stay together; but there is no need to promote same sex marriage and promote new sense in society and corrupt young minds.

    Courts are supposed to look through legal and humane angles. Religion, culture are people made for their supremacy. Let the courts be. We have the option to not get married within same sex nor attend them. Swami ji, You Don't bless such too. But let courts do their job
