Hubballi/Kalaburgi, Apr 28: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai criticised the Congress party for "flouting its century-old culture and abusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi."

Speaking to media persons at his residence in Hubballi on Friday, April 28, he accused the Congress of considering people as slaves and claimed that they think they can do anything to their vote bank.

"They are in an intoxicated state, and the people will teach them a lesson," he warned.

Bommai expressed disappointment with the statements made by the Leader of the Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly, Siddaramaiah, and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. The chief minister particularly highlighted Kharge's statement, stating that it has pained him a lot.

Bommai urged the senior Congress leaders, who have spent five decades in public life, to behave with utmost respect. He cautioned that if they do not do so, the people will take action.

'More abuses of Modi, more votes for BJP'

Bommai also claimed that the number of votes for the BJP has increased whenever Modi has been abused. He cited the example of how Modi was targeted during his tenure as Chief Minister, yet he went on to become Prime Minister for two terms consecutively. He also accused the Congress of instigating people by comparing Modi to a venomous snake.

The chief minister stated that the voters will teach Congress a lesson. Siddaramaiah targets him always, but he believes that the Congress party's traditional vote bank, the SCs, STs, and backward classes, have slipped away from them. Hence, they are targeting him.

According to Bommai, there has been internal fighting between Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah, and Siddaramaiah owes a reply to the people regarding an Rs 8,000 crore worth scam. He believes that the Congress leaders are frustrated and angry due to his government's rejig of the reservation policy.

Bommai addressed a BJP rally in Kalaburgi, where he criticised Shivakumar for his statement that the Vokkaliga and Lingayat communities were not beggars to snatch reservation benefits given to another community. Bommai asked whether SCs, STs, and OBCs were beggars.

He claimed that the BJP would come to power in the state without any doubt, as the Congress party's dam has been breached since their traditional vote bank has slipped away.
