Mangaluru, Apr 30: Congress leader Padmaraj R praised J R Lobo, the Congress candidate from Mangaluru South and former MLA, for his efforts to bring the Smart City project to Mangaluru city using his contacts as a KAS officer.

Padmaraj made these statements while addressing a press meet on Sunday, April 30.

He said that the people in the district are expecting a peaceful and harmonious life and are voting Congress to power. Padmaraj added that even though Mangaluru city has all the necessary infrastructure and is an educational hub, there is no employment for the youth. He urged people to contemplate why the youth are jobless.

He also criticized the BJP government, saying that they came to power by playing on the emotions of the people and are dividing the country through polarization politics. He said that even though the BJP ruled the state for three years, there are no proper toilets in the city to attend nature's call, and there is no development but only corruption. He questioned whether the BJP had made any efforts to create employment opportunities for the youth.

Padmaraj also criticized the BJP for hiking property tax and not fulfilling 90% of the assurances given to the people. He urged people to vote for Congress, promising to root out corruption.

Congress leaders Sesamma, Prakash Salian, T K Sudhir, and others were present.
