Karnataka polls: PM Modi rakes up 'love jihad', refers to 'The Kerala Story'

Bellary, May 5 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday raked up the issue of 'love jihad' in the run up to the May 10 Assembly elections in Karnataka, as he accused the Congress of siding with the conspirators in this regard.

Indirectly referring to the just-released controversial film 'The Kerala Story' while addressing a massive rally in Ballary, Modi said a film has been made on the new form of terrorism based on incidents in Kerala.

"The people of the beautiful land of Kerala are hardworking and talented. But a new form of terrorism has been unleashed, and the Congress is siding with the conspirators of this new form of terrorism. Not only this, it is forging political ties behind doors with the conspirators. The people of Karnataka should be careful about the Congress," Modi said.

"The Congress has always pursued vote-bank politics. As a result, there has been a spurt in terrorism. In the last few years, the forms of terrorism have changed. In present times, acts of terror are not only carried out using guns and bombs. Certain people in the society are quietly pursuing new forms of terrorism. 'The Kerala Story' has a similar storyline and it is being discussed," Modi said.

"I will share with you a serious matter. Thousands of Indians were stuck in Sudan amid the unrest. The big nations did not initiate any process to bring back their people. However, India has rescued its citizens by launching 'Operation Kaveri'. But the Congress tried to play pilitics with this effort also. It made public the identities of the Indians there. The party was ready to make political gains had there been a tragedy," Modi said.

The Prime Minister also said that India will go to any extent to solve the crisis of its people.

"Indian people have successfully rescued from Sudan. Likewise, thousands of Indians were evacuated before from Yemen, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Iraq. When our soldier Abhinandan was captured by Pakistan, we ensured that he returned to India safely," Modi said.

You stole words from my mouth. Dignity, manners, self respect, self esteem and being humble are qualities which define a man and it all comes from one's upbringing or enviornment where you grow up. I have not seen any of these in him. I haven't seen any PM stoop so low. What a disgrace and shame. I thought people mature with age and here it is just opposite. My 6 year old speaks in a more mature manner in thoughts, words and actions.

Modi is so desperate to grab power that he is openly pitting one community against the other. Even within one community he plays the caste card by appeasing one caste and dejecting the other. Lingayaths, Billawas, Vokkaligas have already realised this self centered policy of Modi/BJP. So much of divisive politics and for Modi Power is first, Party is next and the Public is least & last.

You’re right Mr. Pinto. The highest number of recruits to ISIS were from UP, TN and a few from Maharashtra and AP. But these were men from the same one community. Whereas in case of Kerala there were girls from other communities who were trapped, brainwashed and taken to Afghanistan and Syria. Those who were fortunate to escape have narrated the true story.

@ Dileep Dipankar, sakleshpura, 32000? 🤣🤣🤣. You should read before training your guns. "Film doesn't claim 32,000 women were converted to Islam: Censor Board The Censor Board requested the High Court to reject the pleas seeking to stay the screening of 'The Kerala Story' in theatres. The Censor Board contended that the film was issued the certificate after a complete analysis of its content. Further, the movie was certified for release only after the makers made the changes suggested by the board. "Nowhere does the film claim that 32,000 women were converted to Islam and were made to join the Islamic State," the board argued. In the affidavit filed in the High Court, the Censor Board claimed the teaser is not relevant as that portion is not in the film. The board also clarified in court that it has ensured the movie does not contain dialogues or scenes that intentionally hurt or insult any religion. Written and directed by Sudipto Sen, 'The Kerala Story' hit theatres on Friday. The film is being screened in 30 theatres across the state. Protests were held by various organisations in front of cinema halls in Kochi and Kozhikode. The makers originally claimed that 32,000 women from Kerala were converted to Islam and forced to join terrorist organisations like ISIS. However, after coming under fire from various quarters for bending facts and making false claims, they withdrew the figure and called the movie the story of three women from Kerala, in its trailer description on YouTube" https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.onmanorama.com/news/kerala/2023/05/05/high-court-refuses-stay-release-the-kerala-story.html .
