Mangaluru, May 8: Former chief minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy campaigned in favour of JD(S) candidate Mohiuddin Bawa during a massive convention of the JD(S) at Krishnapura on Sunday May 7.

JD(S) leader B M Farooq accompanied Kumaraswamy. JD(S) candidates of Dakshina Kannada district participated in the meeting. Party workers welcomed Kumaraswamy by showering flower petals on him. It was a show of strength of Mangaluru north constituency candidate Mohiuddin Bawa.

Addressing the party workers and crowd, Kumaraswamy said, “I have solely taken the responsibility of campaigning for the JD(S) party. I can see the overwhelming support of people. The Congress party has used Muslims only as vote banks. The Congress says that JD(S) is the B team of the BJP and the BJP says vice versa. I say, we are the B team of Kannadigas of Kannada land.

“The Congress calls Modi a poisonous serpent. The BJP addresses Sonia Gandhi as poisonous lady. What do we have to do with a poisonous serpent or lady?

“In the coastal region, innocent children are being sacrificed for politics. The BJP leaders have filled religion into the minds of children of poor in the society and they are enjoying it. In the CAA protests, two innocents were killed by the police. In the Hijab issue, the BJP created an environment of friction throughout the country. Not a single Congress leader raised their voice on these subjects.

“The BJP started Halal and Jatka controversy. Whether Hindus become untouchables the moment they eat Halal cut meat? In the name of religion, the BJP is playing with the lives of people.

“Our government is definitely going to attain power. All the election surveys that are portrayed in the media are bogus. If we pay up, they will give majority figures to our party also,” he said.
