Bengaluru, May 17: Citizens from all over the state are demanding the immediate implementation of the five guarantee schemes announced by the Congress party in its manifesto in the light of the spectacular victory it has achieved in winning 135 seats during the assembly elections.
This call for implementing the schemes has become shriller even as the Congress party is still in the process of identifying the chief ministerial candidate and is far away from constituting the cabinet and the council of ministers.
Earlier addressing reporters on Tuesday, May 16, KPCC Manifesto Committee president Dr G Parameshwara said the party will bring into effect the guarantee schemes with certain conditions. He said the schemes will be implemented after holding discussions with ministers of every department.
Dr Parameshwara's observations have gone viral on social media and have elicited varied responses from netizens. "Congress party should implement the guarantee schemes without any conditions," the netizens say in unison. They also said the party should have spelt out the conditions for implementing the schemes and should have been transparent in disclosing the terms and conditions.
A few netizens also felt that Congress had cheated the voters after winning the elections while a few others felt that the party will see the impact in the form of results in the next year's Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress party had proposed in its manifesto Gruhalakshmi scheme, Yuva Nidhi scheme, Anna Bhagya, Sakhi programme and Gruha Jyothi schemes before the electorate.
