Kundapur: Girl dies by suicide due to unemployment

Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (MS)

Kundapur, May 29: A young girl, who was depressed as she did not get a job even after completing her post-graduation, killed herself on May 27.

The deceased is identified as Gautami (22), daughter of Pramoda Shetty, a resident of Sigeadi of Kalthodu village.

Gautami did her MCom from a private college in Udupi. She had written a bank recruitment examination as well as for other company recruitment but did not get a placement.

Gautami could not express her desperation with her family members. She wrote a death note and hanged herself on the first floor of her house. Though she was taken off the noose and brought to Byndoor community health centre, the doctors declared her dead.

A case in this connection is registered in Byndoor police station.

There are plenty of job opportunities in India for the capable and skilled. The problem is India is most grads / post grands are only literate- but not educated or skilled.. No need to go to gulf or abroad as salaries in India now are very competetive for the capable candidate. Infact many people in India earn more than people in Gulf!

Most of the private colleges in Mangalore and Udupi dish out so many useless degrees , the students who graduate from these colleges are not employable because this f substandard education. They collect huge fees and fatten their coffers at the expense of these poor students.

Dear Parents, Please stop insisting your children's to get high paid jobs to build big house, to buy car and to make some properties within short period. Its it your duty to give affordable education and train your kids to be successful person in future, not the rich person.....your children's are not exiting to full fill your incomplete dreams. Especially don't force your daughters to grab better jobs in shorter period(they can go out of track for quick growth), not only girls even boys deserve breathing time. Its okay if you children's are not earning so much money like others, Nabors, relatives, etc etc. Even I am forced to do jobs at the age of 18 and by 20 I moved to middle east and spent almost 20 years now. I have earned some good money, no doubt about it. But I lost my age in this desert land, lonely life, no girl friend :) , no festival, no homely food, no freedom in some matter, etc etc. Its always taught to me that, i have to earn quickly, but now I regret.....So dear parents, don't expect your children's to do what you have not done. Only expect them to lead balanced life....its okay even if they remain in middle class life.

Really a very sad news that a young educated girl committed suicide. She should have sought counseling to resolve her problems. Never commit suicide under any circumstances.

RIP! Valuable life lost! Actually IMHO, we are just manufacturing graduates and postgraduates who are taught outdated and just bookish knowledge without any special skills that can get a job easily; over and above that, the quality of education has gone down abysmally due to mushrooming of educational institutions, self styled universities, and numerous coaching classes whose sole aim is to make money and dole out paper degrees which have no job potential! In a way, it is better to learn some specific skills which have potential for self employment and free lancing! Coaching classes have become a very big nuisance, which instill the passion in students to compete feircely and score 100% marks; majority of them are hand in glove with the universities to produce fake toppers and give front page advertisements in leading newspapers to bait more students! Lastly, the education process should be holistic and give all round training to the children. Things that schools don't teach: 🧠 • Emotional behaviour • Financial management • Relationship building • Developing the passion • Handling failures • Forgiveness • Generosity • Altruism • Persistence . Job oriented skills . Stress management • Mental health . Empathy If the purpose of education is to score well on a test, we've lost sight of the real reason for learning!!

Here after it is very difficult to get a proper job. At last we blame our parents.me too blamed when I couldn't get a job after long hunt. Later I got.me too had suicidal thoughts. But God saved me. Parents should think before giving birth to children. If they can give everything even after studies without job then only produce children otherwise it is a problem not for you.for the children running after jobs. See in Europe there is no population and they give citizenship to Indians and other countries. Because they don't produce more children and many of them don't marry. In India it is very difficult. After few days school college starts. You can see the crowd of children everywhere. We blame government. From where government will produce job? Until and unless we don't control population our future children will suffer badly

Jacintha Mangalore Qatar, shame on you .now you are telling parents should think before giving birth to children .Why ?Parents are struggling to give good education ,and later you thought of suicide? Why dont you think of doing some small job first to collect some experience for a big job ?In Europe the delay to have a child till they settle in job and education etc. Some think of their own fun ,or tour to visit countries before having a child. It was bit costly before. Now Gvot .has taken steps to change it .So now birth rate is gone high.Facilities are there to have child ,continue education or up to three years mother can remain home with bit less salary etc.So people are doing more home office and look after child .Nothing is esy in life .Have to struggle everywhere .That means not suicide immediately. No fruits unless you struggle for it.God bless you

Jacintha, parents main aim should be to inculcate good values and give good education to children as per their aptitude; after that, they should struggle and come up in life with little help from parents; beyond that, they would be eligible only from what is remaining after their parents life is over! Don't ever show them your richness; they'll take things for granted and become laggards in life!

There was a time when 4 out of 10 finished graduation and one out of those finished masters. All used to get jobs. Now 8 out of 10 finish masters but available number of jobs have not proportionately increased. We are producing graduates but no jobs in our country. This is the situation even after millions of our students taking up jobs outside the country around the world. Everyone can't just make eatables and sell. Then every home will become a hotel and licenced restaurant owners will go in a loss.

We need to hold political parties and government for fooling people by assuring employment. How many crores have been employed after the burude bashana? We are busy with processions, rituals and political rallies. Educated unemployed fully participate. Do the educated ask what future our educated boys and girls have? Future is blindly voting the uneducated to power.
