Mangaluru, Jun 7: ‘Netravati’, a 15-year-old tigress at Pilikula Biological Park here died on Wednesday June 7 morning.

She was injured in a fight with ‘Reva’, a six-year-old tiger at the biological park on June 4.

The tigress had attacked Reva when the tiger came to mate. The officials controlled the fight and sent them back to the cage. The veterinary doctor and scientific officers were treating Netravati who was recovering and was receiving water and food. However, she collapsed during the treatment this morning and died.

Netravati and Reva were born in the biological park. Though there are injuries on them, it is opined that Netravati died of heart failure due to the intensity of the fight. The internal injuries and the cause will be known only after the post-mortem.  Reva is injured but is free from danger. There are eight tigers in the park at present.
