Law Commission seeks fresh suggestions on Uniform Civil Code

New Delhi, Jun 14 (IANS): The 22nd Law Commission of India on Wednesday sought fresh suggestions from various stakeholders, including public and recognised religious organisations, on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

A public notice, issued by the Law Commission on Wednesday, reads: "With regard to reference dated June 17, 2016, sent by the Ministry of Law & Justice, the 22nd Law Commission of India is examining the subject matter of UCC."

Views and suggestions are to be submitted within 30 days from the date of notice via email or an online link provided in the notice.

The notice further states that the concerned stakeholders are also at liberty to make their submissions to the Member Secretary, Law Commission of India in the form of consultation, discussion, working papers on any of the issues pertaining to the UCC.

"... commission may call upon any individual or organisation for a personal hearing or discussion," it adds.

The notice states that initially, the 21st Law Commission of India had examined the subject on UCC and asked for the views of all the stakeholders through its appeal along with a questionnaire.

"...bearing in mind the relevance and importance of the subject and also the various Court orders on the subject, the 22nd Law Commission of India considered it expedient to deliberate afresh over the subject," the notice adds.

Greetings from Balaraj Bheemasamudra, my views and suggestions with regard to Uniform Civil Code which is pending ever since the constitution was instituted. Article 44 of Indian Constitution mentions the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). It states that citizens to be secured with the Uniform Civil Code. Uniform Civil Code resonates with one country one rule, to be applied to all religious communities. The term, ‘Uniform Civil Code’ is explicitly mentioned in Part 4, Article 44 of the Indian Constitution. Article 44 says, “The State shall endeavor to secure for the citizens a uniform civil code throughout the territory of India.” UCC would provide one law for the entire country, which shall be applicable to all religious communities, in their personal matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption etc. When Criminal law is uniform why not Civil. Hence my strong suggestion is to Enforce UNIFORM CIVIL CODE for the betterment of the citizens of India. JAI BHARATH MATHA

1.The Hindu society has a caste bias so Reservations were brought in to give support to the oppressed. But to gain benefit all religions claim they have caste system. Social evil has become a matter of advantage. 2. More and more groups started using their power to put themselves into beneficiary to reservations 3. Vote bank politics, appreasementvpolitics are possible because of there being no UCC , a particular community asserts itself 4. Communities are defying the country to date to bring UCC 5.Due Waqf board and other policies the community with is the richest, asks for reservation also 6. The poor need support, it includes poor of any religion 7.due to special status special benefits an entire group of people disregard the nation 8.women are suffering since they don't have equal rights 9. UCC will bring us to a point that all is same now only fhave to focus roti, kapda aur makan 10. The majority people feel suppressed as all privileges are enjoyed by the minority community. Which resorts to violence at the thought of losing this luxury they have enjoyed for 75years 11 The religion that breed hatred at every week religious meetings by the religious heads. And the fund to create abundant religious heads is obtained by control of the temples of the majority community 12. Since there is no UCC there is no discipline 13 A hopeless situation for the tax payer , as he pays tax to sponsor people against him 14.there is frustration in the youth 15 we delayed it for long , so some communities have used to to enforce their agend a on others
