New Delhi, Jul 22: The Delhi police will take Politician Amar Singh in for questioning on Friday July 22 regarding the cash-for-vote scam.
Amar Singh has been alleged to have been involved in the scam as vital evidence has connected him to the case.
On July 22, 2008 hours before the trust vote three Bharatiya Janata Party MPs namely Ashok Argal, Faggan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Bhagora had barged into the Lok Sabha waving wads of cash alleging that they were bribed to vote for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
A parliamentary committee has been set up to study the BJP's allegations.
So far two persons have been arrested in this connection. Sanjeev Saxena, a former aide of Amar Singh was caught in a sting operation that revealed him offering money to the MPs. Saxena alleged that the money was given to him by Singh himself. However, Singh said that he did not know Saxena well.
The police are now examining Amar Singh’s letter regarding Saxena’s son’s admission into a college. In the letter, Singh has clearly addressed Saxena as his secretary. Call records also show that Saxena had contacted Singh many times a day before the trust vote took place.
Police are also not ruling out the possibility that BJP itself had planted themselves on the market ahead of the trust vote in order to expose the UPA’s willingness to support.
