Mangalore: Campus Front of India Opposes Education Minister’s Remark

Mangalore, Jul 22: Campus Front of India, city unit organized a protest against the remark of education minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri who said those who are against the teaching of Bhagavad Gita in schools should leave the country.

The protestors shouted slogans against the education minister in front of the DC’s office on Thursday July 21.

CFI district president Hyder Habeeb, state chief secretary Imran and SDPI district chief secretary Akbar Ali among others were present.

Addressing the gathering Akbar Ali said that the state government is forcibly saffronizing education system. Instead of upholding the pride of Indian constitution, it is giving importance for ‘manu samhithe’ (one of the scriptures of Hinduism). With one-sided approach of education minister while passing the order of reciting Bhavadgita in schools, he has caused damage to the national integrity. This move is against the stand of secularism, he alleged.

Later the protestors submitted an appeal to DC which was addressed to the Governor.

    I live in UK and from primary school to secondary school they have Relegious Study as a compulsory subject.

    good thinking. better govt shd open matha s for tht in their own money. thn to b taught to childrens who r intrested. not to the peoples who r nt interested. it shd nt make as compulsary. govt is giving crores of money to mathas, kannada medium schools r shutting doors due to lack of students. if this made compulsary, thn sure no kannada medium ll remain in karnataka......

    Padmanabha, Mangalore, your comments are uncalled for and shows your weakness, I believe that you need to read Bagavad Gita one more time. I doubt Minister Kageri has ever read Gita's? He is a stupid uneducated minister. He is fit to work as a Peon in some school..

    Your statement that Githa is made compulsory in schools is wrong.

    Yes, democracy is for the people, by the people and of the people. 85 % of the population in India is Hindus. By going by your logic Githa should be taught in Schools.

    But, this is not the only reason for teaching Githa in Schools.

    Githa's message is universal and is not confined to any one religion like Quran and Bible.

    By insulting Mahabharatha, Krishna and Draupadi, you are insulting your great fore-fathers who revered these epics and epic characters with great devotion.

    Some foreign authors at the behest of their rulers in India, have depicted Mahabharatha wrongly to spoil the faith of Hindus in their Dharma. People like you have believed their stories.

    You are making comments without reading the original Mahabharatha completely.

    Do not make such comments on great epics and great personalities of India by falling prey to the inferior designs of anti-Hindus.

    Despite repeated attacks from the foreigners, our civilisation has survived because of our firm belief and faith in our Sanathana Dharma.

    There are so many institutions like Ramakrishna Ashrama and Chinmaya Mission in Mangaluru where you can discuss and clear your perceptions.

    Campus Front of India is the younger brother of KFD. All these anti-nationals should be kicked out of India.

    By your irresponsible comments you are supporting such anti-national elements.

    Please do not do that.

    My kids and I live in UK and from primary school to secondary school they have Relegious Study as a compelsory subject.

    They are taught all the relegions of the world. Nothing wrong in teaching all relegions, its a good to know about all relegions and learn good things.

    How about teaching the Quran compulsary in India? You will object to it!
    So why make only gita cumpolsary make the Quran, Bible, Guru Granth cumpolsary and we will not object to it.
    As far as saudi is concerned its not a democracy. India is a democracy which is for the people, by the people. :)

    as there is nothing as optional subjects in schools , Gita should be thought in schools . nobody opposes what catholic schools teach in name of moral studies .so why oppose teaching of Gita ?
