New Delhi, Jul 23 (IANS): Former Commonwealth Games (CWG) organising committee (OC) chief Suresh Kalmadi, who is under judicial custody in a corruption case, Saturday moved a Delhi court for permission to attend the monsoon session of parliament starting Aug 1.

In an application filed before Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Judge Talwant Singh, Kalmadi sought custody parole.

The plea said that appropriate directions be passed regarding his travel and he be allowed to travel in his private vehicle during the session.

The court took note of the application and issued directions to the CBI to file a reply by Monday.

Kalmadi told the court that there was no apprehension of his absconding.

"As the accused is from a highly respectable family and is holding a political office...he has a clean background and cannot abscond," said the application.

Kalmadi was arrested April 25. The CBI May 20 filed its first charge sheet in the corruption case against Kalmadi and 10 others.

The probe agency describing Kalmadi as the prime accused in the case related to financial irregularities in awarding a Rs.141 crore contract for timing, scoring and result system for the October 2010 sporting event.
