Udupi, Jun 30: Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, the bishop of Udupi Diocese has appointed Fr Dr Roshan D’Souza as the new judicial vicar of the diocese from June 30.
In a simple religious ceremony that took place at bishop’s House, in the presence of Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo, Fr Dr Roshan D’Souza took charge as the new judicial vicar of the diocese.
The out-going judicial vicar Fr Walter D’Mello handed over the official records of the Diocesan Tribunal to the new judicial vicar. Bishop thanked Fr Walter D’Mello for his services to the diocese in the past six years as the judicial vicar of the diocese of Udupi. Fr Walter D’Mello is presently appointed as the Parish Priest of Belthangady. The bishop wished well to Fr Roshan D’Souza in his new ministry.
Parish priest of Pamboor Church Fr Henry Mascarenhas, parish priest of Udupi Fr Charles Menezes, procurator of the diocese Marshal D’Souza, Fr Joachim D’Souza were present.
Fr Dr Roshan D’Souza is also the chancellor of Udupi diocese. He has served as assistant parish priest in Rosario Cathedral, Kulshekar and Moodubelle Churches. Dr Roshan D’Souza did his Masters in Canon Law from St Peter’s Pontifical Institute, Bengaluru and has obtained his Doctorate in Canon Law from the Urbaniana University of Rome, Italy. He also has a Diploma in Jurisprudence from the Roman Rota Tribunal, Rome.
Meanwhile, Dr Gerald Issac Lobo, bishop has also made transfers and new appointments in the diocese. Fr Steevan Fernandes, has been given additional responsibility as guardian of Milagres Home, Kallianpur. Fr Denis Alexander Dsa has been given additional responsibilities as diocese director of the social communication commission. Edward Larsen Dsouza has been appointed as diocesan director of the justice and peace commission. Dr Gerald Pinto has been appointed as diocesan director of laity commission.
