Mangaluru: Pumpwell submerged, heavy traffic due to incessant downpour

Mangaluru, Jul 3: Heavy and incessant downpour for the past of couple of days has completely submerged Pumpwell of city in water, resulting in severe traffic congestion on Monday, July 3.

The floodwater beneath the Pumpwell flyover has risen to knee height, blocking the route towards Mangaluru and vehicles heading to the city are stuck at the junction for hours.

Traffic police have been deployed in the area, and there is a possibility of diverting vehicles to alternative routes.

Additionally, Kottara Chowki junction has also been waterlogged after the heavy rainfall.

Junctions like Pumpwell and Kottara Chowki experience flooding and waterlogging every year, yet no permanent solution has been found to address this recurring issue.

Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast heavy rains for the next five days and an orange alert declared till July 7.
