Udupi, Jul 7: Uday Kumar Shetty, a native of Udupi, has been appointed as the additional secretary in the Central Ministry of Law and Justice by the government of India.
Uday Kumar Shetty was born in Heggunje in Udupi district. The appointment committee of the Cabinet, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has appointed him to the prestigious position of deputy director in the Ministry of Law and Justice and Legislative Council. These appointments mark a significant achievement for Uday Kumar Shetty, as he becomes the first prominent Kannadiga to hold such a high-ranking position in the Ministry of Law and Justice.
Uday Kumar Shetty joined the Indian Legal Service in 2003 and has served as a legal officer in the Law Commission of India. He holds a law degree from the renowned Mangalore University, and he pursued his postgraduate studies in Labour Law at Bangalore University.
Notably, he previously served as a guest lecturer in the field of law at the Udupi-based Vaikunta Baliga College.
