Mangaluru, Jul 8: The Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK) distributed scholarships to deserving students in a programme held at the bishop's house here on Saturday July 8.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Maxim Noronha said, “The CASK is doing a noble job by distributing scholarships to the needy students. The students need to be grateful to CASK and also encourage others to complete their studies.”
Renowned doctor Dr Thelma Sequeira suggested the CASK to set up an additional initiative for the benefit of the students. Scholarships will enable students to pursue their selected careers and will motivate them to perform better in their academics, she said.
The CASK distributed scholarships worth Rs 16,09,000 among 154 beneficiaries from Mangaluru, Udupi and Chikkamagaluru dioceses. The beneficiaries include 60 school students, 30 PU, 39 degree, 5 nursing, 6 engineering and 14 students from other professional degrees.
Coordinator of the annual scholarship programme, Ullas Rasquinha briefed about the scholarship programme by CASK.
Marjorie Texeira compered the event, and former president of CASK Nayana Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
President of CASK Capt Vincent Pais was also present.
