Demand for government buses rises in city areas of Udupi, Mangaluru

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi/Mangaluru (MS)

Udupi/Mangaluru, Jul 10: Demand for government buses is increasing in city areas of Udupi and Mangaluru in the wake of the Shakti free bus travel scheme introduced by the state government.

The government bus service was stalled during Covid due to loss in revenue. They were not restored even after the pandemic was over. In certain other areas several buses ply on the same route.

Now the government buses ply from Udupi to Manipal, Hoode, Kallianpur, Marne, Malpe, Kelasunka, Kokkarne, Perdoor, Nellikatte, Manchakal, Kemmannu-Hampanakatte, Honnala and Padukare.

In Mangaluru, the government buses ply from Mangaluru to Mudipu, Adyar, Bajpe, Mallur, Mukka, Gurpur, Kaikamba, Ganeshpura, Someshwara, Vamanjoor, Kunjathbail, Chelaru, MRPL colony, Rehmath Nagara, Ammebala Darga, Keenya.

Due to the Covid-related loss, some buses were sent to other districts. As now the demand is more in those districts, the Mangaluru depot does not have buses. There is a possibility that decision might be taken to run the buses in seven routes in Udupi and 13 routes of Mangaluru which were stopped during Covid. However, 14 staff for Udupi city and 26 for Mangaluru also need to be recruited if the services are restored.

Rajesh Shetty, senior divisional controller, KSRTC Mangaluru said, “We are receiving appeals from Udupi and Mangaluru city area public to run more number of government buses. This will be discussed with higher authorities depending on the availability of buses.”

Keeping aside free travel and for greater benefit of the general public, it’s high time government should consider introducing buses in interior and remote areas like Chitrapura and Honnakatte (in Kulai), Jokatte, Kuthetur and Soorinje.

I for one, personally have a grudge with private bus drivers because they drive in a rash manner as if they are participating in a Formula 1 Grand Prix racing competition. Secondly, drivers and conductors of government and private buses are sworn enemies of each other and do not get alongwith each other. Now with the demand from the public for more government buses, even if KSRTC management says they are loss making, they cannot hide their faces as nobody will believe their sob sob story. If additional government buses will be put into operation, then they will have to bring back all redundant staffs who were 'laid off' in the guise of "cost-cutting". Wondering if KSRTC gets this golden opportunity, will they grab it or still cry that they are running into losses is a big question.

All nationalist BJP voters of Dakshin Canara should now display their nationalism and reject all Congress guarantees. There's no reason to give up your brand of nationalism and embrace the Congress's welfare plan for the people.

Congress is giving those schemes from our tax payers money not from thier father's money that bjp supporters are not supposed to use those guarantee schemes, if congress supporters can use Modi's scheme like Ayushman Bharath which is again from our tax payers money, then why shouldn't bjp supporters use schemes given from thier tax money.

What educated voters of Mangaluru and Udupi, forgot is their brethren and they themselves, while overwhelmingly voting for corrupt and incompetent BJP. Middle class is reeling under tremondous pain and misery, soly because of every faulty policies and vengence driven governance of Modi led BJP govt. Congress is trying to get some relief to this middle class and poor, but both from center and the bhakth tribe supporting corrupt, is posing hurdles in every step. Till such time BJP gets conviencingly defeated at centre, nothing better can be expected by the country. Simply because, BJP focus is being in power, to white wash the corruption trail and records, with washing machine.

Most of the people from DK and Udupi are BJP voters/supporters and most of the BJP supported women enjoying free buses, let them enjoy and its not stipulated to particular party supporters, Guarantees for all the citizens of Karnataka regardless of parties, religion, caste and etc. etc. but why double standard BJP/bhakts, example: why they are insisting government to give Griha jyothi 200KW per month. As per government upto 200KW per month and its fine, why should government give 200KW for the one household who uses/consumes 50KW; so, these peoples mentality to waste people's money not government's money. Bhakts should understand government revenue is generated from the people as a form of tax not from MLAs or MLCs.

That shows that rush is not only from congress supporters but also thosee who had voted for BJP have blindly fallen for fake love for Congress. For freebies they would dump their love towards archrival of BJP. It's not double engine but double cross people. Why can't the BJP leaders advise their supporters not to fall victim to Congress promises.
