Mumbai, Jul 29: Actor Prakash Raj and director Rohit Shetty along with actor Ajay Devgn have apologized to Kannadigas who have been offended by a few statements in the movie ‘Singham’ against them.

Pro-Kannada organizations’ activists protested against the movie in front of theatres across the state. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) also stood by the protestors in support. They demanded an apology from the producers of Reliance Big Entertainment and have also asked for the removal of the particular scene and dialogues in question from the movie.

The KFCC has also targeted the Censor Board for overlooking such dialogues or scenes in the movie which hurt the sentiments of the people.

Prakash defended the movie saying that the dialogue in the movie has been misunderstood. He said, “I play a Marathi politician Jaikar Shikre. The protestors have misunderstood a line, which is clear now. We are sensible people. We didn’t intend to hurt anybody’s sentiments.”

In the controversial scene, Prakash Raj, who plays a politician, says, “Ek phone par mein hazaron logon ko Karnataka border se lakar khada kar dunga” (With one call, I can get hundreds of people from the Karnataka border). In response, Ajay’s character, Maharashtrian cop Bajirao Singham, says, “Tum jaise kutton ke liye, mein hi kafi hoon, Maharashtra se hazaro log ki zaroorat nahin” (For dogs like you, I alone am enough, I don’t need thousands of people from Maharashtra).
