Mangaluru: Man conned of Rs 1.16 lac in online fraud on pretext of providing catering equipment

Mangaluru, Jul 16: A man was fleeced of Rs 1.16 lac by an online fraudster on the pretext of sending equipment needed for the catering industry.

The complainant and victim of this incident had observed equipment required for catering on Bigbasket app on July 15 and had chatted with Bigbasket Facebook account holder. The stranger assured the victim of supplying catering equipment at a low price.

 

Later, the stranger sent a Facebook link by the name Big Basket and asked the complainant to provide his details. Accordingly, the victim provided his bank credit card details. Later, an amount of Rs 1.16 lac was withdrawn from his account in phases.

A case in this regard has been filed with CEN police station.
