Opposition's Bengaluru conclave will be futile, says former CM Bommai

Hubballi, July 16: Former BJP Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai claimed on Sunday that the two-day Opposition Conclave in Bengaluru, starting from Monday, would be futile and would not yield any political benefits.

Speaking to media persons at his residence in Hubballi, he stated that the sole agenda of the two-day conclave, attended by all opposition parties, is to oust Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but their deliberations would prove to be a failure.

Bommai, the BJP leader, argued that none of the opposition parties are strong enough, with some of the regional parties merely serving as opposition parties in their respective states. He expressed his belief that their attempts to present a united front against the BJP or Modi would not succeed.

Bommai criticized the opposition parties for not formulating any credible program to convince the people, while highlighting Prime Minister Modi's stature as a highly respected and honored political leader in foreign countries.

When asked about the BJP-JD(S) alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the former chief minister stated that the matter is in the hands of the party high command.

'BJP opposition leader finalisation likely on Jul 18'

Bommai shared that he had information that the announcement of the BJP opposition leader in the assembly is likely to be made on July 18. He dismissed rumors of former BJP minister V Somanna joining the Congress, labeling them as mere political speculation.

The BJP leader also criticized the Congress government for mishandling the Gruhalakshmi guarantee and repeatedly postponing its launch dates. He added that the Siddaramaiah government does not genuinely intend to implement it.

Bommai's whole tenure was a futile exercise. Other than causing injustice he had done nothing. Now people like him are worried about the opposition unity.
