Sullia: Serial theft at house, two shops; police begin probe

Sullia, Jul 18: Serial theft occurred on at Kanakamajalu and Jalsoor areas under the limits of Sullia police station. A house was burgled in Kanakamajalu, while shops were looted in Jalsoor and Vinobanagara.

At Kanakamajalu, Budleguthu Uresh had been for a funeral ceremony of his relative. Thieves entered the house by breaking open the back door and stole gold ornaments weighing more than 30 sovereigns.

At Jalsoor, thieves broke open the lock of drawer of a shop owned by Jogi near Syndicate Bank and took away Rs 2000 in cash and other items from the shop.

The thieves broke open the lock of petty shop owned by Sundara Nayak at Vinoba Nagara and stole umbrella and other items.

A canine squad arrived from Mangaluru and took vital clues from the house and shops where theft took place. Additional SP Dharmappa, Puttur DySP Dr Gana P Kumar and personnel visited the spots.

Dakshina Kannada SP C B Rishyanth said that night beat by police will be increased to prevent the recurrence of such thefts.

    In future you can keep open the front door and secure backdoor with cctv camera.Most of such burgleries are done from back door.These people know the owner will not come back without food ceremony.Sad .same time why keep at home so much gold and lock house.?Please keep someone in house when you are away to watch
