Chain snatchers of Bengaluru arrested in Udupi

Bengaluru, Jul 23: The Malleshwaram police have successfully taken two chain snatchers into custody. These individuals were responsible for snatching chains from women in the capital city and were eventually caught by the Udupi police.

During the arrest, the police managed to recover 49 grams of golden ornaments worth Rs 3 lacs.

The arrested culprits have been identified as Mohammed Rafiq and Taufiq Sadiq, both of whom have a criminal background. They have been involved in chain snatching incidents targeting women in various locations, including Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Udupi, and Shivamogga. Recently, the Udupi police apprehended them, leading to the discovery of several cases connected to their criminal activities through a body warrant.

One of their victims, Shantamma (70), a resident under the jurisdiction of the Malleshwaram police station, had her chain snatched while walking on the street on May 27.

The police managed to gather valuable clues about the accused during the investigation of this case, ultimately leading to their arrest.
