Kundapur: Another boat topples at Uppunda, nine fishermen rescued

Kundapur, Aug 5: Another boat mishap was reported at Koderi sea beach on Friday August 5.

The boat which got entangled in huge waves overturned. Luckily, all nine fishermen in it were saved by fishermen on other boats. The loss is estimated to be Rs 1.5 lac.

Kuppaiah, one of the fishermen, was stuck in the net around 10 meters from the boat. He was brought out of it with great difficulty.

Six boats that were fishing nearby the Sri Durgaparameshwari boat which got overturned, swung into action and saved all the fishermen. In addition, they pulled the overturned boat which was being washed away by the waves with ropes and brought it safely to Maravanthe fishing port.

It may be recalled, on July 31, two fishermen died in the same spot as their boat overturned due to the force of huge waves.
