Udupi, Aug 13: St Mary's English medium school Udupi as part of its ruby jubilee celebrations organized a unique 'Samaritans Lifeline' blood donation camp on Sunday August 13 in association with Lions Club Udupi midtown, Lions Club Prakruthi and Kasturba Hospital Manipal blood bank.
Basrur Rajeev Shetty, chairman Indian Red Cross society Udupi district branch was the chief guest for the programme. In his message Basrur Rajeev Shetty said, "It is a noble thought of St Mary's English medium school of organizing a blood donation camp as part of the ruby jubilee celebrations. The institution has a great history and it has imparted education to thousands of students. Blood donation is most important, it can save lives. By giving one unit of blood you can save three precious lives."
Fr Charles Menezes, correspondent in his presidential note said, "Let us try to save lives by donating blood. I appreciate the efforts taken out by the principal and the staff in organizing such a unique programme."
Ananth Shetty, president Lions Club Udupi mid town also wished great success for the programme.
Dr Deep, of Kasturba Hospital Manipal blood bank Gladys Saldhnha, convener health commission Fr Johnson Sequiera, principal Rita Quadrous, vice principal Maxim D'Souza, vice president parish pastoral committee Arthur Rodrigues, secretary parish pastoral committee and V sudhakar Shetty, president Lions Club prakruthi were present on the dais.
Faculty Geetha welcomed the gathering. Glen Veigas proposed the vote of thanks. Amrutha Shetty and Dapsy Vaz compered the programme.
