Mangaluru, Aug 20: The Sowjanya Horata Samiti Mangaluru organized a massive protest under the initiative of activist Prasanna Ravi, seeking justice for the brutal rape and murder of Sowjanya.

The protest took place at Kadri Grounds here on Sunday, August 20.

Speaking on the occasion, activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody said, "We are seeking justice irrespective of caste, religion, and community for the brutal injustices done to Sowjanya."

"In this case, an innocent was sent to jail. We should be ashamed that after independence, there is no justice, law, politics, and humanity. For 11 years, we have been demanding justice. The culprits who committed this crime are still roaming freely in society," Shetty said.

He further stated that if the representatives fail to provide justice to Sowjanya, the people will take justice into their own hands and hold massive agitations.

Mahesh Shetty also alleged that the then investigation officer closed this case and criticized politicians for their failure to deliver justice.

Prasanna Ravi, convener of Horata Samithi, said, "As a mother, I can understand the pain of another mother who lost her child in a heinous crime. The mother of the little child has been fighting for justice for 11 years."

She also urged the police department to identify individuals who use fake IDs to post abusive comments and questioned why Members of Parliament, regardless of political parties, have failed to address the issue of the gang rape of a young girl to the union government.

During the event, college students launched a Twitter campaign to demand justice for Sowjanya.

Speaking on the occasion, Sowjanya's mother, Kusumavathi Gowda, said, "People should join hands to provide justice for my daughter. I have confidence that we will get justice."

Yogi Sri Sri Nirmalnath Swamiji of Jogi Math was also present during the occasion.

I support this Sowjanya Horata Samithi. With the prayers of so many thousands of people , the real culprit will become mad and roam on the roads shortly. First of all the VIP culture should stop in our society. Justice should be equal to all.

R.I.P., to Sowjnya, justice must be delivered to her. Any courts in the world cannot deliver justice to anybody except evidence, submit evidence to law enforcement.

How the people with power can dump truth can see in this case.. Difficult to get justice for the girl when whole lot of national party men behind this main culprit who stands behind all happened in even before this case. Like Nithya,s Kailas many in this state run their own republic.Shame on them .

A case of 2012 has still not been solved nor given justice, only goes to prove that the the Police and our so called MLAs of Dharmasthala town and as well Hindu radical organizations that always make a lot of noise if any non Hindu individuals are involved in any crime, leave alone such heinous crime of rape and murder of an innocent Hindu girl in a highly well acclaimed place of Hindu place of worship, are all silent because this crime is committed by a Hindu influential person or persons. But God does not recognize any man made religion, and is the ONLY ONE to all faiths, and justice will certainly come soon to the poor soul of Sowjanya's in one way of the other, its called KARMA. The authorities can protect the influential or be subjicated by the the influential, but God is the ultimate and justice will surely follow!

Free and fair investigation should be done in this case and in all other cases and culprit should be arrested irrespective of political affiliation, caste and religion and we are sure Siddu govt will do the right thing. Time to set our judiciary in order. Without unbiased judiciary we will be living in Jungle raj.
