Udupi, Aug 27: A health and wellness camp was held on August 26 at Konkan Samudhai Bhavan. The event was organized collaboratively by the Kanara Catholic Association (KCA) and the Konkani Catholic Association Bengaluru (Kon-Cab), aiming to promote health awareness and provide valuable medical insights to their members.
The camp offered a comprehensive range of health services and information. Dr Kenuite Martis KCA, the convenor for the event, meticulously curated and then coordinated the health specialists’ educational sessions, disseminating health awareness and nutritional information to the attendees.
The health camp was inaugurated by Adrian D’Souza, president KCA, Vincent D’Souza, president Kon-Cab and Sylvester D’Souza, chairman KWT with a prayer by Karen Pais Prabhu.
Specialist hospital's medical team led by Dr Suresh, Dr Prashant and Dr Yasmin conducted an array of health assessments, including blood pressure, height and weight measurements, pulse rate, body temperature, blood glucose levels, ECGs, and Echocardiograms. These services were provided free of charge, offering attendees the opportunity to gain valuable insights into their health status.
NutrifyMyDiet, a group of experienced nutritionists, was present at the event. They offered body composition reports, which encompassed essential metrics such as body fat percentage, body metabolic age, body mass index, visceral fat, and whole body subcutaneous fat.
The event featured informative talks by medical experts, shedding light on various health-related topics. Dr Shireen Furtado, dermatologist spoke about ‘Skin Care’, Dr Nita D’Souza, plastic surgeon, delivered insights on ‘Burns and Beyond’ and Dr Bevin DSilva, ER specialist, provided valuable knowledge on 'CPR' and Shona Prabhu, co-founder of NutrifyMyDiet, shared strategies for ‘Fuelling your Day’ nutrition strategies for 12-hour fasting.
The health and wellness camp organized by KCA & Kon-Cab, was a resounding success, with members benefitting from a range of medical assessments, nutritional guidance, and informative talks. This collaborative effort underscored the commitment to the well-being of the community members and provided them with valuable tools to improve their health profiles.
