Udupi: CMC commissioner confronts MLA Yashpal Suvarna for ruckus over Hindu event banner removal

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Oct 6: Tensions flared at the Udupi city council meeting as MLA Yashpal Suvarna and BJP supporters clashed with CMC commissioner Rayappa over the removal of a banner associated with the Hindu Samajotsava.

The BJP members expressed strong objections to the banner's removal, claiming that the municipal officials had not acted on their instructions.

An incensed MLA Yash Pal Suvarna exclaimed, "The municipal officials have not done the work we instructed them to do."

In response, commissioner Rayappa defended his team's actions, stating, "Should we not do our job? We certainly have respect for the MLA."

He went on to explain that they had received a letter from the police department regarding the illegal installation of the banner. The MLA was duly informed and requested to obtain the necessary permission.

Rayappa added, "Today, 29 requests for permission have been submitted, and I have not rejected any. I have been in service for 30 years, and I must speak my mind."

Expressing his frustration, he continued, "From tomorrow onwards, we will not rush to the office at 5:30 am. I and all of my staff members will come at 10:30 am and return at 5:30 pm mechanically and inconsequentially. We won't touch any banners anymore, even if they are erected illegally. We won't interfere in any illegal activities henceforth. I came here three months before and have learnt a good lesson today. For your kind information, I have worked as deputy commissioner in Mangaluru earlier."

In response to allegations by the MLA and his supporters, commissioner Rayappa provided evidence by showing the letter from the police department to Yashpal Suvarna.

No bjp without relgion, they are surviving only thru the religion only, if no relgion they wont get votes, they are fooling illiterate people by relgion card, especially most of the people in DK and Udipi does not want developments rather they would cast their votes on the basis of communalism.

Commissioner Sir, You act according to the law regarding banners. Implement strictly the rules without bias. We want to ask you one question, Recently the waste collectors from Udupi Muncipality are refusing to collect tender coconut shells. Where do the people dispose them? Are you telling you do not drink tender coconut water? Now what will happen is people will start throwing these shells near the road which is more dangerous as mosquitoes will breed. These tender coconut shells can be disposed of organically.

This is what happens when Uneducated rules educated persons. We need more Rayappa than Suvarna. Should respect Rayappa's thought and experience, rather obeying LKG student (Suvarna).

In the twin district's of D.K., and Udupi people's representatives must open their eyes to utilize their brain that the Hindutva has failed in Karnataka. People have ousted Hindutvadies in a landslide victory to Congress 135/224. At least learn lessons from experiences

Membership in XYZ doesn't confer privilege. Hindus, despite being the majority, sometimes exhibit feelings of insecurity and fear like minorty. The authority was simply carrying out their responsibilities; we should allow them to do so. For Hinduism to thrive, it must move beyond the influence of Brahmins and embrace inclusivity and a fair, equitable social justice system. The MLA should prioritize developmental projects, employment opportunities, infrastructure like roads, and other essential initiatives

Religious fanaticism started from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and now holding firm ground in India, so we can see what future holds for us. Fanatics know nothing but fanaticism and extremism. Before that Hitler started it in Germany and we all know the end results. Whereas UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia discarded religious fanaticism and we are seeing what future holds for them.
