Sullia: Driver dies in auto-rickshaw-car collision

Sullia, Nov 7: An auto-rickshaw driver died as his vehicle collided with a car in the city on Sunday.

The deceased is identified as Babu Patali (70), a resident of Ariyadka of Jalsoor village. He is survived by wife and two sons. The driver of Omni Devaraj drove his vehicle in a negligent manner at Halegate on Mani-Mysuru highway and crashed onto the auto rickshaw driven my Babu.

A seriously injured Babu died on the way to hospital. Passenger in the auto-rickshaw Ganapati Bhat is also injured and is taken to Mangaluru hospital for higher treatment.

Auto-rickshaw drivers took the mortal remains of Babu in a procession till Jalsoor petrol pump after the post mortem was over. Later, it was taken to his residence at Ariyadka.

Babu worked for 40 years as an auto rickshaw driver and served as president of Sri Guru Raghavendra Bajana Mandir of Jalsoor for 20 years.

A case in this regards is registered in Sullia police station.
