Mangaluru, Nov 13: Air India Express is enhancing the travel experience with the introduction of two new flights connecting Bengaluru to Mangaluru.

Starting this Wednesday, November 15, the winter schedule promises increased connectivity, linking not just these two cities but also connecting to Chennai, Kannur, Thiruvananthapuram, and Varanasi.

Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) officials are eagerly anticipating a substantial increase in domestic passenger footfall with this latest addition to their flight schedule.

The flight timings are tailored for customer convenience, seamlessly connecting to international flights. According to information available on the Air India Express website, Flight IX 782 will commence its journey from Varanasi at 8 am, landing at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) at 10:30 am. After a quick layover of 55 minutes without changing aircraft, it will depart from KIA at 11:10 am and arrive at MIA by 12:10 pm.

The Varanasi-Mangaluru connection is only open for 10 days, until November 25. However, starting November 26, this flight will seamlessly link Chennai to Mangaluru via Bengaluru.

Departing Chennai at 9:35 am, it arrives at KIA at 10:35 am, with a brief 50-minute layover and no change in aircraft, before reaching MIA at 12:10 pm. The return journey, Flight IX 678, will depart from MIA to KIA at 12:40 pm and touch down at 1:55 pm.

Furthermore, Flight IX 1795 will connect Kannur, Bengaluru, and Mangaluru. This flight departs Kannur every Wednesday at 4:30 pm, landing at KIA at 5:50 pm. From KIA, it flies to MIA at 6:25 pm, arriving at 7:35 pm. The same aircraft, now identified as IX 792, departs from MIA at 8:15 pm, reaching KIA at 9:30 pm. After a 50-minute layover, it heads to Thiruvananthapuram, landing at 11:25 pm.

Mangalore Airport has the high potential for Middle East countries flights but the present connectivity is very less as per requirements. MIA is systematically kept under rated. High fares and almost no options other than flying to nearby airports.

i wonder if they made it for money making or just for sake of doing it. What is the point if there are no flights departing to Varanasi from M'lore ? It will increase the traffic, since most of the m'loreans are now flying to Delhi and taking a connection to Varanasi. If the flight originates from M'lore via KIA, then it would be a boon for lot of people to carry out pilgrimage. Myself i am not able to take my parents due to non-flight connectivity and they dont seem to travel by train due to long transit and washroom matters.

Mangalore Airport is purposely devalued so that bangalore and Kannur airport could make Money. But our media and leaders r silent on this issue. There is no any extension plans no development plans and no new international connections . Mangaloreans are forced to travel to blr and kannur as there is no option at all. 30 to 35% of kannur traffic from Saudi Arabia are Mangaloreans. From 2 decades only 1 flight is connecting Mangalore to Dammam which is always full even though fares are higher than kannur. we are being looted and Airlines r running Monopoly business in MIA.

This is not helping any gulf passengers travelling from . As the luggage allowance is only 15 kgs. Its very bad that we don't have any gulf connections. Before we had EK .EY, Oman, all gulf carries connecting with Jet with one PNR 30kg .It was so convenient
