Mangalore, Aug 31: The Indian Catholic youth Movement (ICYM) of Cordel parish, Kulshekar here for the first time in history organized “Cordel Church Centenary Football Cup 2011'  at Holy Cross Church grounds,Kulsheker on Wednesday August 31 and to be concluded on Thursday September 1.

The inauguration programme was blessed  by Fr Dennis Prabhu, vicar general of Mangalore diocese. He wished the youngsters well for the event.

The event was inaugurated by MLC, deputy chairman,NRI forum Karnataka, Captain Ganesh Karnik. Speaking on the occasion he said that there’s a need that each one of us become the instrument of peace in our surroundings. He also congratulated the organizers for their efforts and wished the players very best.



Corporator K Bhasker said that these events have become a forum for exhibiting the talents for the youth.

Managing Director, Agnel’s Ad-venture, MJF ln  Agnel Rodrigues recalled the contribution of Cordel Parish on international basis, He appreciated the parish priest for his remarkable works to the parish.

President of the programme , parish priest Fr Valerian Pinto, congratulated the ICYM unit for their hardwork and wished all the teams to play their best in sportsman spirit and thanked all the sponsors for supporting the event.

 Parish council vice president Praveen Patrao, ICYM animators Sushil Norohna, Noel D’Souza, Leena Lobo, ICYM president Francis Grippen, convenor of the event Sushan D’ Souza among others were present.

The tournament commenced with the invocation by Ashwin. Team ICYM president Francis welcomed the gathering.

The programme was compered by Precilla Sequeira.

    Peace among the parishioners is very important. These football mataches should unite them from internal conflict and tug of war with PP and his hated circute admirers by the adverseries.
