Mangaluru: Cruise liner season begins – First ship arrives at NMPA

Mangaluru, Dec 9: The cruise season of the year began with the arrival of luxury cruise liner Seven Seas Navigator to NMPA on Friday.

This vessel is owned by entrepreneur of Norway and has flag of Bahamas hoisted on it. There are 500 passengers and 350 crew on board. The ship is 173 meters in length and 7.5 meter in depth. The weight of the vessel is 28083 tonnes.

The passengers were welcomed with Chende drums and presentation of Bharatnatyam and Yakshagana dances. The passengers took photos with the artistes.

Dr A V Ramana, president of NMPT gave memento to the captain of the ship and flagged off the new tourism season. Vice president and other officials were present.

The tourists visited Gomateshwara statue at Karkala, thousand-pillar Basadi at Moodbidri, Soans Farm, Achal cashew industries, Gokarnanatha temple, St Aloysius College Chapel and local markets. Later, the ship sailed to Kochi.
