Siddaramaiah meets Amit Shah, urges him to release drought relief funds

Bengaluru, Dec 20 (IANS): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday met Home Minister Amit Shah and asked him to release drought relief funds by convening a high-level committee meeting.

The Chief Minister submitted a three page letter to Amit Shah in which he said: “It is learned that the sub-committee of the National Executive Committee, chaired by the union Agriculture Secretary, met on November 13 and considered Karnataka’s memorandums and the report of the IMCT.

“The sub-committee, it is learnt, has submitted its report to the Ministry of Home, which is expected to place the same before the high-level committee which you chair.

“It is nearly three months since we submitted our first memorandum and two months since the Inter Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) made its field visits. The farmers of Karnataka are in deep distress. Since crops have failed, it is necessary that we pay the input subsidy to the farmers soon so as to alleviate their hardship and suffering.

“I earnestly look forward to a positive response and an early response and an early resolution to the above issues, in the interest of the farmers of Karnataka.”

The Chief Minister also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his office and sought immediate release of Rs 18,177.44 crore compensation package to tackle the drought situation in the state.

Cauvery basin water sharing among states is different from tamilnadu receiving rains .. The Cauvery basin water sharing formula decided after several years Various tribunals .. etc etc long history.. So if orders as per Supreme Court not followed Karnataka govt technically can be dismissed Only possibly distress formula . Stares themselves having some sort of mutual understanding drought years etc .. but this is a political hit potato for both states .... Karnataka does not receive its due share of taxes ... Uttarpradesh because of its population other calculated parameters received much more per capita ... Karnataka unfortunately penalised .. So we go with begging bowl to get our own money ... Taxes paid... ...Also centre does. Not share many taxes like Cess etc

All taxes subsumed onto gst ..Karnataka does not get back due to share of tax contribution.. uttarpradesh gets more All calculations as per population etc Karnataka indirectly gets penalised . Actually All southern States .. The water release from. Cauvery is as per Supreme Court and tribunal Awards .. just because CHENNAI and few areas in the state are flooded does not mean as per Court / tribunal orders Karnataka can stop water flow ( Cauvery Basin area is different comprising Tamilnadu Karnataka Kerala partly Pondicherry )

Drought is the artificial creation of Siddu who released copious amounts of Cauvery water in favor of INDIA alliance. TN was actually flooded in this period. He was voted by Karnataka voters, for Karnataka, by Karnataka and from Karnataka and not play with lives of Karnataka farmers. Siddu and DK Shi should take responsibility for splurging money needlessly in unnecessary schemes that won them votes and now begging to abuse even more the power and resource.

Have sense man. Siddu is not demanding money for guarantees but the legally allotted money for floods and natural disasters. It’s people’s money not Modi’s money from his pocket although even in his pocket he carries hard earned tax money of poor people.

If it was owed to the state, Chief secretary or any other IAS official in charge of state finances could have done the job. It would not need a CM to go with a special request and deputy CM to sweeten it up to Home Minister.

40% corrupt is dismantled by the people and in reward, peoples are getting Congress's guaranteed money to their accounts. In fact Karnataka is has given 40%to people. In BJP's Brhasta Jumla Paapies, period there was no development, the have used tax payers money to procure MLA'sin tyactions. Virtualually BJP Brhasta Jumla Paapies engaged in total corruption, and in Communal activities.
